When you visit a website for the first time you get an impression of the company the same way you get an impression of an individual the first time you meet. Does your web site give a good first impression? Does your website make you look like a credibility company?
Just like meeting people, first impressions are important. Your website should have an attractive appearance and should be appropriate for the company image you are trying to convey.
Here are several items that can have a negative effect on your company’s first impression based on a client’s visit:
- Missing images
One of the first things people will notice is missing images. This will give visitors a very negative impression of your website and company. If you do not care enough to have all of your images working, then they may question the quality of work you will do for them.
- E-mail address
Your contact email address should be yourname@yourdomainname.com NOT some name at Gmail.com, Yahoo.com or some other address. When your email address does not use your domain name, people can easily think that you are not serious about your company, or that you may not be around for very long.
- Broken links
Having broken links to pages on your website is something you should control and never allow to happen. If you have to remove a page be sure to remove all of the links to that page. If the page removed might be linked to directly from a search engine, be sure to redirect the removed page to another similar page or to your home page
